This 7-module course will focus on the training required to aquaculture the queen conch, Aliger gigas (previously Strombus gigas), for conservation education, research, and restoration. The goal of this inter-disciplinary course is to provide participants with the aquaculture principles, concepts, and methodologies required to:
1. Understand the conch life cycle through aquaculture;
2. Identify and analyze potential problems during culture and examine solutions; and
3. Design and operate a small-scale hatchery that can support the culture of juveniles starting with egg mass hatching, larval rearing, metamorphosis, and feeding.
